Bethany Seagraves, a senior at St. Joseph’s Academy in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has committed to swim for Emory University in the fall. Seagraves is the reigning Louisiana Division I state champion in the 100 back and 200 IM, having won the former three time in a row and the latter, twice. At the LHSAA Division I Championship Swim Meet in November of 2014, she won the 100 back (58.34) and placed third in the 200 IM. As a junior she took the 100 back with 56.98 and the 200 IM with 2:09.02; she was also a member of the SJA’s 200 free and 400 free relays, both of which broke Louisiana state and Division I records. This year she repeated her state titles in the 200 IM (2:08.54) and 100 back (56.68) and anchored both state title-winning freestyle relays.
Seagraves swims year-round for Tiger Aquatics. Her top SCY times are:
- 50 back – 26.51
- 100 back – 56.18
- 200 back – 2:03.68
- 100 free – 51.53
- 100 fly – 56.78
- 200 IM – 2:08.54
Seagraves will join Maly Shores in the Eagles’ class of 2021.
