Given the letdown of nights 1 and 2, I should be tamping down my excitement. But where’s the fun in that? I hope the entire field in each race throws down. I hope every winner is faster than prelims. And I hope Beisel and Phelps blow us all away. #ontothenextone

As a huge MP fan, it feels strange to pick Tom Shields to win the 100 fly.
It’s perhaps the race of the week on the men’s side!
Michael looked great in prelims. Please swim well the wall tonight and qualify for Pan Pacs.
Tom Shields is ready for a crazy fast time in my opinion. I see him in 50.39!

Beating Crocker’s TB? That’s a bold prediction from you Bobo. I’ll just be happy if anyone swims under 51. Many have struggled to back up their morning swims at this meet.

Yes. You’re probably right. šŸ˜†
But Shields has impressed me so much in the 200 fly that I think anything is possible with him now. Perhaps not this year but in the next 2 years yes.

a new start

A 1:55 and a 50.39 is an extreme separation in relative speed. Shields was an excellent 200 flyer in college who is just now translating well into the big pool. I think a 51.3 is what he posts tonight.
