Lily Dubroff of the Delaware Swim Team has verbally committed to USC this week, giving Dave Salo the second big commit of the year for his women’s class, and as the Trojans continue to take the lion’s share of the early recruiting headlines.
Dubroff was named the Delaware Swimmer of the Year in 2014, and is the three-time defending high school State Champion in the 50 free. As a freshman in 2012, she broke the State Record in 22.93, and she won the race again in 2014 with a 23.35.
In between, as a sophomore, she won the State Championships in the 500 free (4:56.10) and the 200 free (1:50.55), and was part of two Charter School of Wilmington winning relays. In total in her high school career, she’s gone a perfect 12-for-12 in State Championships.
Dubroff also has a Winter Juniors cut in the 200 breast (2:19.43), and Winter Nationals cuts in the 200 fly (2:02.09), the 200 IM (2:03.22), and the 400 IM (4:18.88) in yards.
Her 26.07 in the 50 long course free is also a Senior Nationals cut, and she’s been 50.24 on a flat-start in the 100 yard free.
USC has a lot of youth in the sprint freestyle group, but especially with the graduation of Kasey Carlson, they lack some depth. Dubroff’s 22.93 would have put her 4th, among USC flat starts, last season.
Dubroff swims for the Delaware Swim Team under coach Sean Dougherty. She joins breaststroker Riley Scott in an impressive early recruiting class.
