Swim Across America hosts their 1st Water Polo Tournament

Teams from across the state will converge in Cary, North Carolina, at the Triangle Aquatic Center on November 15-16th to complete for the title of “Best in the State.” Teams will travel from as far as Asheville, Charlotte and Wilmington to compete. Both Master and Collegiate Club Teams will compete for the right to claim they are the best water polo team in North Carolina. Proceeds from this tournament, organized by the Triangle Water Polo Club and the first of its kind in history, will be donated to Swim Across America to help fund Cancer Research.

The Triangle Aquatic Center is sponsoring the event by donating pool time and lifeguards for the event, while each competing team will have its own Swim Across America (SAA) Donation Page where team members and supporters will make donations in hopes to propel their team to the Championship Game and a chance to win the title of North Carolina Champion.

The Inaugural North Carolina Water Polo Championship event on Saturday and Sunday, November 15th and 16th will draw teams from all parts of the State. The teams will not only be competing to see who will be named “Best in the State”, but will also be donating their time and effort to help raise money for cancer research. Team Entry fees will cover any tournament related costs that have not already been previously donated and all remaining funds will be donated to Swim Across America. In addition, all individual pledges collected by each team will go directly to SAA. Spectators are encouraged to attend and the event will be free and open to the public. Approximately 120 athletes will participate in events surrounding the Championship Tournament, which will include at least 10 games played from 12pm – 9pm on Saturday, November 15th and approximately 5 games played on Sunday, November 16th from 8 am until 1pm.
