Jonathan Thayer, Luke Ryan, And Amanda Schaefer All Give Verbal Commitments

Three more verbal commitments were recently announced via twitter with the likes of Jonathan Thayer, Luke Ryan, and Amanada Schaefer.

Jonathan Thayer – Truman State- Division II

Jonathan Thayer will be attending Truman State as a freshman for the 2015-2016 swim season where he’ll bring to the team some steady freestyle swims. Thayer comes out of the Flyers Aquatic Swim Team in St. Louis, Missouri, while there his main focus was the freestyle events targeting mostly the middle distances, the 200m freestyle being his best event.

Most of Thayer’s personal bests in SCY come from early in the 2013-2014 season. His personal best in the 200 freestyle was set back in March of 2014 with a time of 1:43.28. When Thayer swam that he was 16 at the time. With his freestyle times, Thayer should be looking for a spot on the relays, specifically the 4×200.

  • 100 free- 48.58 SCY, 54.40 LCM
  • 200 free- 1:43.28 SCY, 1:58.15 LCM
  • 500/400 free– 4:43.65 SCY, 4:14.51 LCM
  • 1000/800 free– 9:53.02 SCY, 8:55.29 LCM
  • 200 fly- 2:00.54 SCY

Luke Ryan – Towson University- Division I

Luke Ryan, who hails out of Pennsylvania where he swam out of the Upper Maine Line YMCA, will be competing with Towson University next fall as a freshman. Ryan is a backstroker, posting his best times in the 100 and 200 with a 53.15 and 1:55.14 in yards. Both times were swum in the 2013-2014 season.

Ryan’s long course backstroke times correspond with what he had been swimming in the short course pool with a 1:01.09 in the 100 and a 2:16.21 in the 200.

  • 100 back- 53.15 SCY, 1:01.09 LCM
  • 200 back- 1:55.15 SCY, 2:16.21 LCM

Amanda Schaefer – Western Illinois University – Division I

Amanda Schaefer of the Lake Country Swim Team in Hartland, Wisconsin will be heading to Macomb, Illinois to compete with the Western Illinois University.

Schaefer is a distance freestyler, her most impressive results being in the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyles. Her top swim would most likely be her 1650, as it appears that she’s a little better as more distance is added to the race. Schaefer will need some steady improvement to meet the NCAA time standards and compete at the DI championships as her best time in the 1650 is currently off that mark.

  • 500/400 free- 5:22.08 SCY, 4:54.73 LCM
  • 1000/800 free- 9:39.09 LCM
  • 1650/1500 free- 18:24.70 SCY, 18:52.09 LCM
