JOB DESCRIPTION

Assistant Swimming Coach at Lone Star Aquatic Club

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lone Star Aquatic ClubCoach must teach fundamental and advance athletic skills and work with athletes to prepare them for competition. The coach needs to be able to instruct athletes under the guidelines and philosophy of the Team Mission. All Coaches will be responsible for making sure that each swimmer improves throughout the season. Coaches must be responsible for helping maintain a safe atmosphere and providing positive and constructive feedback to our swimmers. Provide training and nutritional information for newsletter. These duties are delegated by the Head Coach. Hours of work are determined by the Head Coach and the availability of the facilities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Bachelors degree preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Applicants must show ability to run swim practice with a large group of young swimmers (ages 5 to 14). Must show capacity to train developmental as well as elite level training. Must be USA Swimming Certified.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES* (INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO)

• Strong background in USA Swimming.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong teaching, motivating and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with swimmers of all levels.
• Ability to work as a team.
• Sound understanding in biomechanics and physiology.
• Dependable and reliable.
• Assist the Head Coach with supervising athletes during practice and competition.
• Participates in and helps with the planning of special activities to include, parent’s night, banquets and award nights.
• Attends quarterly staff meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
• Performs any other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

ABOUT LONE STAR AQUATIC CLUB

Lone Star Aquatic Club is a non-profit 501c swim team located in Round Rock, Texas, just 15 minutes north of the City of Austin of approximately 200 members. Since 1989, our swimmers compete in a variety of meets throughout the State of Texas, proven themselves to be some of the fastest in the state. This position will report to the Head Coach. We are looking for a coach who can instruct and guide our young swimmers to be successful athletes and teammates in and out of the pool.
