South Carolina State Champ Lilla Felix Gives Verbal Commitment to Yale

Elizabeth (Lilla) Felix, a senior at Hilton Head Island High School in South Carolina, has made a verbal commitment to join the Yale University class of 2019.*

Felix excels in backstroke and freestyle, and the longer the better. She is a Winter Nationals qualifier in the 200y back (and Summer Juniors in LCM) and a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 100 back (both SCY and LCM). Her best times include:

Felix’s commitment to Yale comes straight on the heels of Hilton Head High’s fifth consecutive South Carolina Class 3-A High School Championship title, where she led off both HH’s winning relays (200 medley and the 400 free), added an individual title in the 500 free and a second-place finish in the 100 back.

Felix also swims for Hilton Head Aquatics. She finished the 2014 long course season the third-fastest 200m backstroker in South Carolina behind only Danielle and Ali Galyer, and was fifth in the 100m back. She was also second in the state in the 800m free and ninth in the 400.

Felix is a nice addition to the Yale roster. Her 100 back would have made the B-final at 2014 Ivy League Championships, an event in which the Bulldogs did not score. Her 200 would also have made the B-final, but there Yale had two each in the A- and B-finals.

Yale has one of the strongest distance freestyle programs in the Ivies, and Felix will have a great opportunity to train with big Ivy point-scorers Eva Fabian, Isla Hutchinson-Maddox, and Casey Lincoln.

Felix joins Northern California’s Heidi Katter who has already committed to Yale.
