Richmond takes on Davidson This Weekend at the Collegiate School Aquatics Center

Richmond swimming and diving hosts its lone fall-semester meet as three Atlantic 10 Conference programs descend on the Collegiate School Aquatics Center and the Richmond campus for the 2014 Richmond Duals Friday and Saturday. The divers will compete on campus, while the swimmers will go off at the Aquatics Center, just south of campus.

Diving begins at 4:30 on campus Friday evening, with swimming begins at 5 p.m. Saturday, the action gets underway at 9:30 a.m. on campus, while the swimming starts at 10:15 a.m. at the Aquatics Center.

Richmond will face new A-10 program Davidson for scoring purposes Friday, with George Mason and Duquesne squaring off that evening. The two higher-scoring teams of the two contests will be paired off Saturday in a bracket-style format, with the other two teams scoring against one another for points. George Mason and Davidson will bring their men’s teams, which will split their competition against one another across the two days.

The four women’s teams will swim together in events on Friday and Saturday, but will score against only the team they compete with in that day’s action. The women will compete in a 1m and 3m event both days, also scoring only against the paired opponent for that day. Diving scores will be tabulated into the swimming for each day. The men will dive the 1m board on Friday and 3m on Saturday in competition, with an exhibition round each day, time permitting.

The Spiders posted wins against both UNC Wilmington and Old Dominion last weekend to open the season in Wilmington, North Carolina. Freshman Annie Lane (Vinton, Virginia) was named Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie Performer of the Week after winning three individual events to help the team get their two season-opening victories.

The Collegiate School facility will have plenty of parking in the lots and on the street for overflow. Parking on campus will be in front of the Weinstein Center, adjacent to the Robins Center.

Please note that Saturday is Homecoming at Richmond and the designated parking lot at the diving venue (B6) will need to be cleared at 11:30 a.m. for tailgating and football parking. Fans attending diving venue will park in lot B6 and must receive a yellow parking pass into that lot on arriving and display the pass on your dashboard to avoid parking tickets and/or towing.

Richmond will provide live video on the A-10 Network, with links posted at RIchmondSpiders.com. You can purchase a 24-hour viewing window through the viewer that gets you swimming or diving viewing. Take advantage of that value by waiting to purchase your day pass until Friday evening to be sure to get both days for one low price!
