The Indiana High School Swimming & Diving Hall of Fame has announced 23 swimmers and 5 coaches in their class of 2015 inductees.
The Hall of Fame strives to help commemorate the history of high school swimming in a state legendary for it; they also host a Hall of Fame meet every year, and raise money to provide scholarships to Indiana High School swimmers.
The Hall in general is heavy on swimmers from Gen X, the baby boomers, and prior generations, which is reflected again in the class of 2015 with only five out of the 23 swimmers starting their high school careers even in the 1990’s or 2000’s. Among the oldest inudctees in the class is Albert Ehlers, a Whiting High swimmer from 1931-1933, and Harry Clark, the coach of East Chicago Washington High School from 1929-1941.
This list is riddled with high school state champions and high school and college All-Americans. One name that immediately jumps out is former Center Grove star Laura Swander, who would go on to win three NCAA relay titles with the Auburn Tigers.
