PASA’s Alex Grimes Gives Her Verbal Commitment to Northwestern University

Alexandra Grimes, a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All America Team member from Los Gatos, California, has made a verbal commitment to the Northwestern Wildcats for 2015-16.

“I chose Northwestern because the school is everything that I was looking for. The team is so welcoming, the school has great academics, and the campus is beautiful. GO CATS!”

A senior at Los Gatos High Schoo, Grimes helped propel LGHS to a seventh-place team finish at the 2014 California High School Central Coast Section Championships with individual finishes of second in the 100 fly and fifth in the 100 back. She also led off both the 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Grimes swims for Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics, where her best times are:

100y free: 52.15
200y free: 1:51.88
50y back: 26.27
100y back: 55.18
200y back: 2:00.10
50y fly: 25.43
100y fly: 54.46
200y fly: 1:59.80
200y IM: 2:03.13
400y IM: 4:23.61

Grimes has that great versatility which will allow the Wildcats to use her where they need to score points. Some of the possibilities include:

  • 200 fly – Northwestern had no finalists at the 2014 B1G Championships; it took 2:00.50 to make the B-final and 1:58.45 to make the A.
  • 100 fly – Northwestern had no finalists; 54.69 made it into the C-final and 54.16 made the B.
  • 100 back – Northwestern had one B-finalist; it took 55.13 to get into the B-final and 55.50 for the C.
  • 200 back – Northwestern had no finalists; a 1:59.47 was needed to make the C-final.

The Wildcats are lining up a very strong team this year. They have also received verbal commitments from Annika Kollevoll, Lindsay Adamski, and Peyton Greenberg.
