St. Bonaventure swimming and diving edged La Salle

MEN

The St. Bonaventure Men’s swimming and diving teams were defeated by La Salle University in their first and only Atlantic 10 conference regular season meet Saturday afternoon at the Spire Institute in Ohio.

Viacheslav Shchukin continued his hot start Saturday, he remained undefeated on the season, capturing the 50 and 100 freestyle events in times of 45.98 and 20.90 respectively.

The only other St. Bonaventure swimming victory came curtesy of senior Matthew Rochna in the 200-yd Butterfly (1:52.36)

Diver Alex Marra dominated the boards saturday afternoon capturing both the one and three meter diving events with scores of 266.25 and 310.05.

Next Up: The Bonnies will try to get back to their winning ways when they host Cleveland State Friday night, Nov. 7, and the Reilly Center pool.

WOMEN

The St. Bonaventure Women’s swimming and diving teams were defeated by both La Salle and Duquesne in their first and only Atlantic 10 Conference regular season meet Saturday afternoon at the Spire Institute in Ohio.

Sophomore Tanja Kirmse continued her incredible season Saturday capturing three individual events in a tri meet with Atlantic 10 opponents Duquesne and La Salle. She captured the 200-yd Freestyle (1:54.95), the 200-yd Butterfly (2:06.99) and the 500-yd Freestyle (5:01.92)

The Bonnies had multiple runner up finishes Saturday. Freshman Michaela Ryan captured a second place finish in the 1650 freetyle in a time of 17:44.30. Junior Adelyn Graf posted a runner up finish in the 200-yd Backstroke (2:09.66). Also, Elizabeth Malone came in second in the 100-yd Butterfly (59.51)

Next Up: The Bonnies will look for their first win of the young season when they host Cleveland State Friday night Nov. 7, at the Reilly Center Pool.
