Louisiana Mid-Distance Specialist Victoria Barczyk Verbally Commits to TCU

Victoria Barczyk, from Ascension Episcopal School in Lafayette, Louisiana, has committed to swim for Texas Christian University.

“From the moment I walked onto TCU’s campus I felt right at home. The team was filled with great swimmers and an amazing coaching staff. I could not be happier to be a part of the Horned Frog Family.”

Barczyk comes from swimming genes; her mother, Colleen Dunne Barczyk, swam for David Marsh at Auburn.

Barczyk trains with City Of Lafayette Aquatics. Primarily a freestyler, she has a wide range of distances in her arsenal. Her top SCY times over the last two seasons are:

100y free: 53.81
200y free: 1:55.06
500y free: 5:03.08
1000y free: 10:25.66
400y IM: 4:34.48
200y back: 2:10.35

Barczyk will head into an excellent training group at TCU. The Horned Frogs placed seven swimmers in the three finals of the 500 free at 2014 Big 12 Conference Championships; Barczyk would have been their eighth. She’s a little off scoring position in the 200 as of now, but her best 1650 time would have scored.

TCU is off to a good start in its recruiting season so far; Barczyk will join fellow commit Jessica Short in the fall of 2015.

I am so proud of my fellow swimmer! The TCU swimmers definitely gained an amazing teammate. I could not be happier for you, Victoria, and I’ll be cheering for my horned frog from wherever I end up!
