Greek Swimming Federation passes budget just under 4 million Euros

KOE, the Hellenic Swimming Federation which oversees Greek swimming, has passed its budget for 2015. The budget will stand at 3,930,000 Euros.

As it did last year, the KOE will get 1.6 million Euros initially and the remainder of the state money later in the year.

Though KOE President Dimitris Diathesopoulos complained that the state often slashes the swimming federation’s budget – “Without consultation, without merit,” he said – he also promised that the federation would impress with its ability to save money.

At the end of the year you will be amazed by our tidiness,” he said in the federation’s press release. Diathesopoulos pointed to 2015 seminars on the operation of facilities as one way the sport will learn to save money. He said the seminars will show how swimming facilities can be run without costs significantly higher than other sporting facilities, and promised that myths about the expense of swimming facilities would be busted.
