Two-time Florida State Champion Emir Muratovic has officially committed to become a Florida State Seminole next fall.
Muratovic, from Tampa Bay Community Aquatics and Ridgewood High School, won the Florida 2A State Championship this past weekend in the 100 yard free (45.04) and was the runner-up in the 50 free (20.45). Both of those swims were done in lifetime bests to really raise his value for the Seminoles. During the Florida High School Championship season, he improved his best time in the 100 free by 1.3 seconds.
The 50 and 100 frees are his best two events by far, though he’s a solid-enough 100 backstroker (52.99) and 100 butterflier (52.97) to warrant long-term consideration in those strokes for Florida State’s 200 medley relay.
Muratovic is another piece in what is a long and proud sprinting tradition in Tallahassee. That group is currently led by sophomore Jason McCormick, and with a solid class of sprinters coming in this season, the Seminoles’ sprint free relays c. 2017 should be very impressive.
Congrats Emir and Go Seminoles! Also- Emir swims for Pipeline Swimming, not Tampa Bay…
Congrats Emir!! He actually now swims with Pipeline Swimming out of New Port Richey, Fl. So proud of your accomplishments!
