TYR Sport Signs Olympic Gold Medalist Claire Donahue

TYR Sport is proud to announce the addition of 25-year-old Olympic Gold Medalist Claire Donahue to its athlete roster. Donahue, an accomplished specialist in the 100m butterfly, has been a staple on the national team year after year and consistently performs at the highest level on the world stage.

Her next chance to shine will be in Doha, Qatar at the 2014 FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships this December. With the addition of events like the 50m butterfly and Mixed Medley Relays, the sprint specialist has a chance to really make some waves, both in individual events and as a member of multiple Team USA Medley Relays.

While Doha will provide an exciting way to end the competitive year, Donahue has her sights set on Rio. Having already secured a spot to compete at next summer’s 2015 World Long Course Championships in Kazan, Russia, Donahue is able to look at the big picture. For her, Kazan will be a chance to challenge herself against the best in the world and hone her preparation for the Olympic Trials, a meet at which she has already been successful in the past.

Claire attended Western Kentucky University where she studied social work and owns the school records in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly. As a senior, Claire was named “2011 WKU Student Athlete of the Year” and the school remains a big supporter in her professional development.

TYR ad, Claire_Doanahue, coutesy of TYR“I am so unbelievably excited about being a part of Team TYR,” said Donahue. “I appreciate their support so much and it means a lot to be able to represent such a great brand both in and out of the pool. TYR has been doing a lot of great things for the sport of swimming and it’s awesome to be a part of something so special. I can’t wait to see what they’re going to do in the future. Ultimately, I’m just really glad I get to surround myself with people I can call family.”

TYR is excited to support Claire as she prepares for next year’s World Championships and sets her sights on the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
