Adam Peaty of Great Britain had a record breaking summer setting a new world record in the 50 breaststroke along with the British record in the 100 breaststroke.
He continued in same manner today in Doha taking down the British record in the men’s 100 breaststroke this morning posting a time of 57.02 breaking Michael Jamieson‘s 2013 record of 57.52.
Peaty returned to the pool this evening qualifying for the top spot in the final recording a time of 56.43. His time not only breaks his own national record, but he also took down South African Cameron van der Burgh‘s 2010 competition record of 56.80.
The improvements 19 year old’s has made over the last two years has been incredible.
- 2012 – 1:00.64
- 2013 – 58.54
- 2014 – 56.43
He will look to make another big step towards van der Burgh’s world record of 55.61 in tomorrow’s night’s final.
Peaty was not the only one to set a new national record in the event Russian Kirill Pridgoda posted a time of 56.93 breaking Stanislav Lakhtyukhov‘s 2009 record of 57.11.
Pridgoda has also made impressive improvements in the event over the last year coming into the season with a lifetime best of 58.66.
