Chris Shimojima is a professional filmmaker in New York City who just so happened to grow up as a competitive swimmer. Chris still swims 7 days a week, and decided to make a short video to describe why, years later, swimming still holds a special place in his heart.
The video features former Nationals finalist, Ivy League Champion, two-time Olympic Trials competitor, and current FAST coach, Lauren Morford.

Chris likes to think his background is unique: classical music performance and composition. His passion for film music is what led him to visual and character-driven storytelling, and now, he’s a writer, director, and video editor searching for ways to mix showmanship with a heavy dose of psychological introspection. Fun.
After graduating NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Dramatic Writing, he joined the high-profile digital agency R/GA, where he worked as an editor on numerous campaigns you probably saw and thought were cool, while writing/directing his own narrative short films, which he hopes are just as cool. (They’ve even played at international film festivals.) He is the director of photography and editor of the web-series Downsized, which was one of YouTube’s Top 10 Made-for-the-Web Shows. His spec ad for the 2013 Young Cannes Lions competition was the sole spot picked up for broadcast television. His editing clients have included Nike, Bose, Shiseido, Facebook, Google, A&E, and JCPenney. He really likes to swim. He really hates holding umbrellas in the rain. He adores chocolate covered almonds. He digs when art, and women, are passionate and romantic, real and raw, loud, subtle, and not without a touch of humor.
And the list goes on…
chills… dang that was good.
