Kromowidjojo, Dekker Ready to Compete at Amsterdam Cup

December 11, 2014, Amsterdam, the Netherlands – The eleventh edition of the Amsterdam Swim Cup is set to get underway tomorrow, December 12th,  in the Sloterparkbad of Amsterdam.  The competition will run through December 14th and serves as a qualifying meet for the 2015 World Long Course Championships in Kazan.

In addition to going after qualifying times, swimmers do have the opportunity to earn a little cash over the course of the meet, as eligible winners within each stroke final will receive €300.  Within the IPC finals, the swimmer who collects the highest number of IPC points is declared the winner. Additionally, four prizes of €150 will be given out daily specifically in support of junior and youth swimmers:

Some familiar names from the recent 2014 Short Course World Championships in Doha will surface at this meet, notably in the form of the Dutch sprinting dynamo women.  Ranomi Kromowidjojo, Inge Dekker, and Femke Heemskerk are slated to battle it out over the shorter freestyle race distances again this weekend.   Portugal’s Carlos Almeida, who most recently earned second place finishes in both the men’s 100y and 200y breaststroke events at the U.S. Winter Nationals in Greensboro, NC, will also be competing this weekend in his signature events.
