Just a few weeks after having her record broken by Mackenzie Coan in October, S8 Paralympian Brickelle Bro took-back her mark on November 7th at the Cheyenne Mountain Aquatic Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Not only did Bro take back her American Record in the 1000 yard free at the Cheyenne Mt. Short Course Open with a 12:31.91, but she also rolled onward into a 20:48.86 in the 1650: also an American Record in her classification.
According to her coach Will Amos, “(Brickelle) had been unaware that her record had been broken until 10 minutes before the race, when I told her,” providing acute motivation for the 18-year old high school senior.
According to Amos, Bro will spend the next year focusing on training for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio before seeking out an opportunity to swim in college. Amos says that Bro, a native of Castle Rock, Colorado, is exploring the possibility of training with the USA Resident Team at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs: only about 45 minutes from home for her.
