Both Yannick Agnel and Frederick Bousquet started their 2015 season by competing in the sprint events on the first day of the Meeting Olympique Courbevoie which runs from the 16th-18th.
Agnel raced the 50 butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle on the first day of competition. He won the 50 freestyle posting a 23.67 and the 50 backstroke recording a 27.33. He finished third in the 50 butterfly swimming a 25.27 and finished seventh in the 50 breaststroke touching in a time of 30.24.
Bousquet returned to competition after being out of the water for the entire 2014 season recovering from shoulder surgery. Bousquet took the 50 butterfly posting a time of 24.87 and finished second to Agnel in the 50 freestyle recording a 23.75.
Before the competition began Bousquet expressed both the joy anxiety that came with returning to competition,”I am both happy, anxious and stressed. It makes me a little scared, I do not know at all what to expect,” Bousquet told AFP.
This was the first time that Agnel has raced since returning to France to train with Lionel Horter. Horter explained his reasoning for having the Agnel compete in Courbevoie, “It’s very early, but we chose the first competition that was possible to do this year before going to train in Thailand on January 24,” Horter told AFP.
“The aim is to go further than he is capable of doing in training.”
Bousquet won the 50 fly in 24.23 ahead of Agnel in 24.59.
Yannick Agnel has just won the 100 free final in 50.19.
50.19 : what can we expect for next French Nationals in both 100 and 200 free ?
Absolutely no idea. Nothing looks unchanged so far but too early to tell.
I think Horter will make Agnel work more on technique.
Correction. Nothing looks changed so far.
Times you posted come from Friday prelims.
Sprint finals are today and tomorrow.
Interesting! @Bobo Gigi : any videos? I have never seen Agnel swim other strokes! great to hear Bousquet is back in the water!
Working on it
Sorry but unless someone in the stands films some races and posts the videos on youtube, and it’s very unlikely, I can’t do anything for you.
And seriously, it’s not necessary to watch Mr Agnel swim other strokes than freestyle. 🙂
