Chloe Thomas

Chloe Thomas is the eldest daughter of Eric and Kristine Thomas. She grew up in Souderton, PA with her sister Haley. Her family also often includes exchange students from China. Chloe has competed in swimming for her entire life and also competed in varsity water polo.

Club

Chloe was a three-year letterwinner at Souderton Area High School. She was named Rookie of the Year as a freshman, qualifying for district and Pennsylvania state meets. Chloe was an outstanding athlete and earned earned the Coaches Award as a sophomore. She was part of Souderton’s 2009 state champion and record-breaking 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays. Those two relays also earned NISCA All-American honors. Chloe proved herself as an asset on relays as a three-time state qualifier in freestyle relays, twice making it to state in 400 medley relay. Individually, she qualified for the state meet in 50 free as a junior, being named NISCA All-American in 50 free and 200 free relay. Chloe led by example and served as a team captain her senior year as well as earning team MVP.

College

2011-2012

Chloe made an immediate impact for the Lady Flames competing in the sprint freestyle and backstroke events. In her first Division 1 competition versus Marshall University, Chloe helped the Flames win the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay. At the 2012 CCSA Championship, Chloe raced to win fifth place in 100 back at CCSA Championships, swimming 57.46. She posted a lifetime-best time in the 100 freestyle with a 52.31 in prelims, ultimately earning 13th place. Chloe also swam a lifetime best in the 50 free with a 23.74, then went on to place 11th in the final. Chloe also earned CCSA All-Academic honors for her efforts in the classroom.

2012-2013

Chloe again was a consistent competitor for the Flames in the sprint freestyles and backstroke. She started off the season strong with a individual event win in the 100 free versus Campbell with a 53.39. At the end of season championship, Chloe swam a personal-best 23.49 to qualify for B final in 50 free at conference meet, before clocking 23.54 in final and placing 10th overall. Chloe also raced a lifetime best 100 free of 51.17 in CCSA A final, finishing eighth. She swam a best time in the 100 backstroke with a 57.45 to finish 11th overall. Chloe was a major contributor on Liberty’s sweep of the sprint freestyle relays. She swam a 22.64 third leg split of the victorious 200 free relay as the Lady Flames set a new conference record in a NCAA B cut time of 1:30.01. She also split a 50.37 second leg on the 400 freestyle relay to help Liberty win the CCSA final in a new conference record time, 3:20.23. Chloe had another great academic year and was named to the CCSA All-Academic team.

2013-2014

Chloe continued to swim the sprint free and backstroke events for the Flames. During the regular season Chloe helped Liberty to win four relays, including three at the Davidson Duals. At the 2014 CCSA Championship, she split a 22.57 on third leg of team’s second place 200 free relay at CCSA Championships (1:30.94). Chloe cracked into the A final of the 50 free for the first time in her career placing 6th with a lifetime best of 23.19. She also made the A final in the 100 freestyle with a lifetime best time of 50.81, to achieve seventh place. Chloe earned 12th place in the 100 backstroke and posted a best time of 57.07.

2014-2015

Chloe continued to be a solid competitor for the Lady Flames in her senior year. She raced the sprint freestyles and 100 backstroke as well as relays for Liberty throughout the regular season. She was part of the victorious all-senior 400 freestyle relay versus Georgia Southern, College of Charleston, and UNC Wilmington on January 30th. At the CCSA Championship Chloe swam the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 backstroke earning B final swims in each event. She placed 16th in the 50 and 100 freestyle, 14th in the 100 back. Chloe was part of the strong senior class that lead Liberty to three conference runner-up finishes and one CCSA championship title (2014) during her racing career.

Personal

Chloe is working towards a bachelors degree in special education at Liberty University. Her goal is to become a teacher. Both of her parents are teachers in the Sauderton area.
