Day One Finals Recap: Boise State Leads at Mountain West Champs

The Women’s Swimming and Diving Mountain West Championships kicked off Wednesday at the Palo Alto College Aquatic Center in San Antonio, Texas. After the two relays and one diving event, the Boise State Broncos lead the scoreboard with 105 points ahead of San Diego State University (98 points) and Nevada (82 points).

The Aztec A relay claimed a win in the 200 Medley Relay, swimming to a new pool record of 1:37.60 ahead of Boise State’s A team (1:38.11). Close behind for third was UNLV’s A team in 1:38.71.

Nevada’s Krysta Palmer took the conference title and another meet record in the 1-meter event, scoring 336.30 points ahead of San Diego State’s Alexandra Caplan (305.10).

Boise State wrapped up the first session of the meet with a tight win in the 800 Free relay in an NCAA B cut of 7:08.51. Nevada’s A team followed up for second in 7:09.70 ahead of San Diego State’s A team (7:10.21).

Current point standings after night one are as follows:

Boise State – 105 points

San Diego State – 98 points

Nevada – 82 points

Wyoming – 71 points

Colorado State – 68 points

UNLV – 60 points

New Mexico – 47 points

Air Force – 39 points

Fresno State – 38 points

San Jose State – 15 points
