Annie Friedrich
Annie is in her senior year and is a Colby Presidential Scholar as well an Academic All-NESCAC honoree. She is double majoring in Anthropology and Religious Studies. She is one of the Aquamules’ leading IMers.
Colby College Swimming and Diving
2011-2012
In her first season as an Aquamule, Annie swam distance and middle distance free. She had a great season and swam an impressive five event line-up (2 exhibition) at NESCAC Championships. In what is one of the more daunting schedules, she competed in the 400 IM, 200 free, 500 free, 1000 free, and the mile.
2012-2013
Annie opened her sophomore year on dry land, running six miles (her personal record) for the Mule’s Portland Marathon relay team. She then focused on the distance freestyle events and was a scorer in the dual meet schedule.
2013-2014
Annie spent the first half of her junior year abroad studying in Cordoba, Spain. She returned for the second half of the season and switched focus to the IM events. She finished off the year with a top 24 finish in the 400 IM at NESCAC Championships.
2014-2015
In her final season as an Aquamule, Annie was a key leader of the team. With a young roster, her leadership and guidance was vital to the program’s development. At NESCAC Championships she competed in 200 fly and 400 IM, qualifying as a finals alternate in the latter.
Personal
Annie may or not actually be from Starbuck, Minnesota, but the name really sounded fun. She loves water-skiing and her favorite vacation spot is St. John’s in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
