PASA Pro Bobby Bollier Swims His Fastest 200 Fly Since 2012 Trials at College Station Sectional

In the long course final of the 2015 College Station Sectionals meet on Friday, former U.S. National Champion Bobby Bollier won the men’s 200 fly final in 1:57.15.

For Bollier, attending the meet as part of the Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics team, that’s his fastest time in the event since finishing 3rd at the 2012 Olympic Trials.

The 25-year old swimmer took his race out in 56.01, finishing in a back-half split of 1:01.74, which given the final result is a bit less front-speed heavy than we’re used to from him. Given the timing, though, that might not be a bad thing.

Bollier’s was the most significant result on the day, though there were a few other nice swims.

  • Braxton Flowers from FLEET swam a 2:01.12, which is a new Gulf Swimming 18 & under record, breaking the 2:03.03 done by Cole Cragin in 2008.
  • Karlee Bispo, also training with PASA, swam a 56.27 to win the women’s 100 free. She just beat-out fellow pro Nina Rangelova, who was 2nd in 56.30.
  • Destiny Nelson won the women’s 200 back in 2:15.39.
  • 15-year old Dakota Luther from Longhorn Aquatics won the women’s 200 fly in 2:13.88, beating out 16-year old teammate Victoria Edwards, who was 2:14.53.
  • 15-year old Gabrielle Kopenski won the women’s 400 free final in 4:14.47 – six seconds clear of the field. She and Nelson are teammates at Texas Ford Aquatics.
