Women’s Meet

3-meter diving kicked off Day Two of the ECAC Open at University of Pittsburgh’s Trees Pool on Saturday. Freshman Megan Berardelli of Marist won the event with 300.20 point. Pitt’s Meme Sharp (281.60) and Sam Winkelmann (274.60) were second and third.

Pitt won the 200 medley relay with Tia VanLandeghem (26.54), Maddie Marcelle (28.68), Lauren Mills (25.70), and Emily Murphy (22.65) in a combined time of 1:43.57. Vermont placed second with the quartet of Courtney Gray, Shannon Cowley, Andie Blaser, and Christa Weaver (1:44.27). Marist’s Colleen Lampe, Isabella Morreale, Bethany Powhida, and Georgia Goldman took third with 1:45.84.

Senior Katie Mann of University of New Hampshire went 4:10.92 to win the 400 IM over Charlotte Meyer of Navy (4:13.17) and Bridget Ritter of Army (4:21.05).

The 100 fly went to Army junior Molly Mucciarone in 54.24. Vermont’s Courtney Gray came in just ahead of UMBC’s Amanda Day for second, winning 55.94 to 56.06.

In an all-freshman 200 free podium, Elizaveta Baykova of University of New Hampshire grabbed the title with an ECAC record-breaking 1:47.54. Bucknell’s Dani Potis took second with 1:49.53, just ahead of University of New Hampshire’s Jess Harper (1:50.19).

Sophomore Kinga Cichowska of Pitt lowered her own school record and set a meet record in the 100 breast with her 1:01.45. Navy’s Ellen Bradford just edged teammate Hanna Gillcrist for second, 1:02.83 to 1:02.89.

Danielle Lee of Harvard set both the Trees Pool record and ECAC meet record with her 53.16 in the 100 back. Pitt’s Blair Wegescheide was right behind, finishing second in 53.63. Kate O’Rourke of Columbia took third with 55.89.

In the 800 free relay, Navy and Army battled to the finish, with the Midshipmen just out-touching the Black Knights, 7:31.27 to 7:31.79. Navy’s quartet consisted of Megan Reutzel (1:53.80), Amy Davis (1:54.20), Alyssa Dilldine (1:52.72), and Jenny Smith (1:50.55). Ritter, Ana Marie Bistrow, Sabrina Mortell, and Madison Jones represented Army. Bucknell (Laureana Zrada, Potis, Paige Daniel, and Stephanie Koziol) finished third in 7:35.51.

Men’s Meet

Navy men set the ECAC meet record in the 200 medley relay, as DJ Rusiewski (22.86), Morgan DeJong (25.03), Hayes McCullagh (21.52), and Michael Bundas (19.95) went a combined 1:29.36. Trading stroke for stroke but just coming short of first place was the Army quartet of Will Viana, Nick Treiberg, Michale Dustin, and Chris Szekely (1:29.47). Columbia placed third in 1:30.60 with Thomas Norman, Forrest Davis, Drew May, and Codi Saunders.

Freshman Zach Thomas of Columbia won the 400 IM with 3:54.49. Binghamton’s Liam Cashin picked up second place with 3:56.08, while James Delgado of Columbia, who set the meet record in this event last year, went 3:57.87 for third.

Navy’s Jonathan Debaugh took the 100 fly title in 47.54, ahead of Army’s Will Viana (48.82) and Drew May of Columbia (48.94).

Junior Thomas Duvall of Navy broke the ECAC meet record in the 200 free with 1:35.59. Teammate Alex Nickell went 1:37.28 for second, while Bucknell junior Louis Behnen came up with a third-place 1:37.99.

Columbia’s Saunders out-touched UMBC’s Leo Endres for the 100 breast title, 54.39 to 54.53. Ruan Zorgman of Binghamton went 55.25 for third place.

Navy’s Rusiewski held off a surge from Army’s Evin Rude to win a very close battle in the 100 back, 49.12 to 49.15. Matt Tankle of Pitt won another tight race, edging Binghmaton’s Eric Farm, 49.56 to 49.61 for third.

The last meet record of the day to fall was the 800 free relay, in which Navy clocked a winning 6:35.91. Contributing to the Midshipmen’s effort were Joseph Jaime (1:39.13), Nickell (1:37.90), Nathan Stinson (1:39.34), and Riley Mita (1:39.54). Bucknell (Sam Rutan, Chris Devlin, Stephen Hollins, and Behnen) came in at 6:38.13 for second, while Army (Evin Rude, Viana, Devin McCall, and Jon Astashinsky) placed third in 6:39.79.
