SCORING OUT THE 2015 NCAA DIVISION II PSYCH SHEETS – WOMEN’S EDITION

Last week we began our annual trek of scoring out psych sheets and trie to come up with how the NCAA Championship meet might work out for the men, this time around we’ll be looking at the women’s side of the pool at Division II NCAA’s.

While the reigning champion Drury women look to extend their NCAA II title streak to three the women of Queens look to crash the Panthers party.  While finishing more than 100 points behind Drury last year with Caroline ArakelianHannah Peiffer, and Patricia Castro Ortega leading the charge look for the Royals to be in contention for a D-II title.

By psych sheet scoring Queens and Drury sit within 40 points of each other.  Nova southeastern and Wingate look to battle it out for third in Indy but a disqualification by either Queens or Drury could open the door for second or first for both teams.

Scoring out D2’s is a little bit of a tougher challenge than in Division I or Division III because of the specific Division II rules. Swimmers are limited to the same 7 total events, but they have a little more flexibility in that they can swim up to four individual swims, as compared to just three allowed in the other divisions of the NCAA. This means that many swimmers wind up being over-entered on psych sheets for the meet, including a swimmer like Bryndis Hansen of Nova who is currently seeded in four but will more than likely drop an event to contribute on four of the Sharks relays.

Consider this a taper-ignoring guesstimate of how the meet might play out in a week in Indianapolis. The racing begins on March 11th and runs through March 14th at the IUPUI Natatorium.
