Jimmy Newman
Jimmy began swimming early in life in Newtown Pennsylvania. Throughout his high school career Jimmy was very successful in the pool qualifying for the PIAA AAA state championship meet both his junior and senior year in the 200 and 500 freestyle events. Jimmy Committed to Westminster college in 2012.
College
2012-2013
Jimmy saw varied success in his first year with the titans. At the Presidents Athletic Conference championship meet he posted a best time in his 500 free on the first day taking third place over all. Jimmy also preformed well in the 1650 and 400 I.M taking second and ninth places respectively. Jimmy also competed on the teams 800 free relay which took first place These scoring efforts helped the titans take home their first conference championship trophy in five years.
2013-2014
Jimmy experienced varied success in his sophomore year at Westminster. Falling short of any personal records at the PAC championship meet Jimmy, who was battling a knee injury, still contributed to the titans scoring effort placing top 16 in the 500 free and the 200 fly taking twelfth and tenth respectively.
2014-2015
Jimmy continued to battle his knee injury throughout the 2014-2015 season. Again he was able to contribute to the Titans scoring effort at their conference meet posting a top 16 appearance in the 500 free on the first day he took 14th place. On the second day of competition Newman fell short of a finals appearance in the 200 freestyle. Despite a rough second day Newman managed to sneak into the top 16 in the 200 yard butterfly on the final day of competition. He ended up improving his standing from 16th to 9th winning the consolation heat at finals to help the titans wrap up a conference championship.
Personal
Jimmy is a junior political science major at Westminster. After he graduates he plans to attend graduate school in pursuit of a masters degree.
