Alec Cohen
Alec Cohen is a versatile swimmer originally from Woodstock, Ga. Cohen graduated from Etowah High School where he was coached by Tracye Bulger. After graduation Cohen didn’t look far for his perfect college fit – he decided to stay in-state and attend the University of Georgia. As a Bulldog Cohen has focused mostly on freestyle and backstroke, but he’s also quick in the IM events and even qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 400m IM. When it comes to the record book, Cohen holds a University of Georgia school record as a member of the 800 freestyle relay. Born June 27, 1993 to parents, Michael and Leah, Cohen is in his senior year as a Bulldog and is majoring in Communication Studies. He was a member of Stingrays Swimming in Georgia, and he was coached by Ian Goss. He’s an avid college football fan and follows the Atlanta Braves.

2011-2012
As a freshman Cohen earned his 2012 U.S. Olympic Trial cuts.

2012-2013
At the 2013 SEC Championship meet Cohen finished 18th in the 200 freestyle after being disqualified in the 200 IM. He also finished 28th in the 200 backstroke. He was brought to the NCAA meet as a relay alternate.

2013-2014
In his junior season Cohen competed in his third SEC’s. He finished 12th in the 500 freestyle, 21st in the 200 freestyle and 23rd in the 200 backstroke. He was a member of the 2014 NCAA team as a member of the 800 freestyle relay, which helped the Bulldogs end in a top-five finish.

2014-2015
Cohen is currently in his senior season as a Georgia Bulldog. At the 2015 SEC Championships Cohen anchored the 800 freestyle relay that came in fourth, finished 12th in the 500 freestyle, 21st in the 200 freestyle and 23rd in the 200 backstroke. He also was the recipient of the Damon Evans Swimming Scholarship Endowment.

National Competition
During his years at Etowah High School Cohen was a 2011 Georgia state champion in the 200 IM – an event he rarely competes in during his collegiate career. Cohen was apart of the 2011 World Junior Championships team that was held in Lima, Peru.

Cohen was a 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier – he finished 108th in the 400m IM, 57th in the 400m freestyle, 114th in the 200m freestyle, and 96th in the 200m IM.
