John Simmons

John Simmons
John Simmons is a Georgia Bulldog that graduated from the state of Georgia’s own Peachtree Ridge High School. He’s a freestyle specialist, and is majoring in Consumer Economics. Simmons is currently in his senior year, and has been extremely successful, having swum career best times in nearly every event as a Bulldog. Simmons was an eight-time high school All-America at Peachtree Ridge, and was one of the top 100 recruits out of the state of Georgia in the 2011 recruiting class. Simmons has swam for Georgia at the SEC Championships, dual meets, invites, and even was a member of the NCAA team.

University of Georgia
2011-2012
As a freshman Simmons swam at the 2012 SEC Championships competing in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events. He swam on both the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay as the anchor leg. The medley relay finished second, and the freestyle relay came in fourth at the SEC meet. He was named to the Second SEC Team.

2012-2013
Simmons had another successful season his sophomore year, but this time he made the NCAA team as a member of the 200 freestyle relay.

2013-2014
Simmons didn’t compete at the SEC Championships, but he swam best times in the 50 and 100 freestyle.

2014-2015
Simmons is currently in his senior year as a Georgia Bulldog. He didn’t compete at the SEC Championships, but focused on the Georgia Invite.

National Competition
When competing for Peachtree Ridge High School, Simmons was an eight-time All-American, set school records in the 100 and 200 freestyle, and was the co-captain of the 2010 team that won the school’s first Class 5-A state title. Simmons also was named to the Gwinnett County First Team All-Star, and chosen as a Gwinnett County Super Six Swimmer for 2010-2011.
