Don’t worry: even though your NCAA Men’s Basketball March Madness bracket is almost assuredly busted already (thanks to Georgia State, UCLA, and UAB), there’s still plenty to get excited about as we reveal the results of our 2015 Women’s NCAA Championships Pick ‘Em contest.
Winning the first day was no1swimfreak, who clearly lived up to his/her moniker with 63 points to start things off. Ericmay16, is close behind, however, at 62. Big shoutout to the ever-mysterious NotMorganPriestley in third. Individual scores are below, but first, some things we noticed from our readers/pickers:
- You guys have lots of confidence in Missy Franklin: 472 of 565 entrants picked her to win the 200 IM
- … and Simone Manuel: 467 of 565 chose the Stanford freshman in the 50 free
- … but not as much faith in Leah Smith: just 115 of 565 went with the Cavalier distance star to win the 500 free
- You liked Stanford over Cal in the 200 free relay: 276 first place selections went to Stanford, compared to 198 for Cal
- … but Cal over Stanford in the 400 medley: 268 first place selections for Cal, 194 for Stanford
- … and no faith in Virginia: despite coming in as the #1 seed in the 400 medley relay, just over one-quarter of contestants (151 of 565) picked the Cavaliers to finish in the top 3 in the 400 medley relay
- You had little faith in “other” teams to finish in the top four in the 400 medley: only 32 contestants envisioned a team outside the listed top 8 actually finishing in the top four (Missouri)
