2015 Women’s NCAA Championships: Quick Quotes From Day 2

Farida Osman, California

200 Medley Relay

On how big the win was for Cal

“Yeah, with this relay we just really wanted to get after it. We all swam really well, so I’m happy with that.”

Sarah Henry, Texas A&M

400 Individual Medley

On winning an NCAA title as a senior

“It means everything to me. My sophomore year I tore my ACL so I didn’t even know if I could swim breaststroke after that and just to win a 400 IM title is just amazing.”

What are you feeling about having it be your last year?

“It’s just the cherry on top. I’ve had a fantastic experience at A&M and to get the title for them and myself, I couldn’t have it any other way.”

Kelsi Worrell

 On the win

“I just want to give all the glory to God, I wouldn’t be here without him. I just want to give all the glory to him.”

“I want to thank all my teammates. I have so many family members in the stands and I am just so grateful that they are here and that I get to share this with them.”

Missy Franklin, California

On swimming like it’s her last NCAA meet

“I can’t even believe that. I do, I want to finish with a bang. I’ve been thinking about that [1:] 39 literally all season so to finally get it – words can’t describe.”

On the importance of the win for Cal

“That’s the most important thing – I got my hand to the wall and got the most points I could for my team and that’s what matters most.”

Sarah Haase, Stanford

On the tight finish

“I had no idea.. I mean, I saw we were all pretty close in that last 25 and actually, I looked over at my teammates and saw they went crazy before I even looked at the time so I was like, maybe that’s a good thing? But, I mean I couldn’t be more happy.”

What do you think makes a difference in a race like this that is so tightly bunched?

“Yeah, I mean I think it’s mainly sticking to your own race plan. A lot of times people can get in your head and there’s so many fast people up there that you just want to go after it, but keeping some kind of calmness and control, that at least just really helped me.”

Rachel Bootmsa, California

On the win

“It’s been a crazy year. I am just so happy to back swimming the way I want to be and the way I have been training. Its honestly an incredible feeling right now.”

On the team race

“It’s been an incredible, incredible meet. Georgia has been fighting us back and forth. It’s going to be pretty much down to the last swimmer of the meet. It’s been crazy.”
