With only a few top American recruits having not (publicly) released their college commitments, probably the top one left, Justin Kaisrlik, has signed with the University of Florida.
At last weekend’s Florida High School State Championships, swimming for East Ridge High School, Kaisrlik won the 2A title in the 200 IM in 1:49.60 (which was the 2nd-best time among the three classes in the state). He also took 4th in the 500 free in 4:29.40 in a loaded race that included Florida State commit Derek Pridemore and Virginia-bound Nick Alexiou.
That 200 IM time was a career-best, but he’s been much faster in the 500 (4:23.9 at last year’s Winter Juniors meet) that ranks in the top-10 in the class. He’s also a very strong 200 freestyler (1:38.12) and 400 IM’er (3:54.20), which fits right into Gregg Troy’s coaching wheelhouse.
He joins a Florida class that includes distance freestyler Arthur Frayler and Adam Bull.
The best American recruits left is probably Cory Cody out of Maine. Most of the other recruits seem to be accounted for, based on local news reports.
