Matthew Baurle
Matt has been swimming for most of his life and has seen a considerable amount of success in the pool. In high school he was a three time PIAA state championship qualifier and a high school All-American. Matt Committed to Westminster in 2012.
College
2012-2013
Matt saw exceptional improvements in his first year as a titan. Suffering from a broken wrist injury sustained in November he fought his was back to a successful performance at the Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) championship meet. Matt took first place in both breast stroke events, Competed on two first place relays, and finished eighth in the 200 I.M. Matt’ efforts not only helped the titans claim their first championship in five years but also qualified him for the NCAA Div. III national championship meet where he took 8th in his 100 breast securing All-American honors and shattering the school record in that event.
2013-2014
Matt saw varied success in his sophomore season with the titans. At the PAC championship meet he claimed both breast stroke titles for the second year in a row and took 11th in the 200 I.M although he fell short of best times in all three events. Matt was also a key member of the medley relays both of which claimed first place positions on the podium.
2014-2015
Matt again saw success once more in his junior year. At the PAC championship meet he claimed both breast stroke titles for the third year consecutively and finished ninth in the 200 I.M with a personal best time. In the 100 breast Matt broke his own record from 2013 and was .01 seconds from making the national meet. He also competed on the 200 and 400 medley relays both of which earned first place and broke school records. Matts considerable scoring effort at the meet helped the titans claim their second championship in three years.
Personal
Matt is an avid comic book fan and loves Batman above all other heroes. He is a media art major at Westminster and plans to go into design after graduation.
