Day 1 finals left us with a tight race between the top 5-10 teams, with a few trailing closely behind the top 10. After this morning, the projected scores leave the top 3-meter divers with an opportunity to boost their teams’ rankings.
It was the Indiana Hoosiers that came out on top this morning, placing 1-2 with James Connor and Michael Hixon. With the hoosiers projected at 40 points after tonight’s swimming finals, those 37 points could be enough to bump them into 10th if a couple of the other teams come out with less points than predicted after prelims.
Tennessee also put up 2 championship finalists, Mauricio Robles and Liam Stone. They have a similar situation to Indiana, as they could possibly bump their team into 10th place. This depends on how they place in finals, and how the other teams’ swimmers compare to their projected scores.
Stanford’s Kristian Ipsen will return to the championship final again, as the Cardinal battles Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia to finish ahead of them in 6th following day 2. He will have his work cut out for him with Auburn’s Fraser McKean in the final as well.
Will Chandler of Texas finished 4th this morning, which will only add to an incredible points total that Texas is in position to score. His teammate Mark Anderson will contribute as well from the consolation final.
