Sharon van Rouwendaal Lowers Own Dutch National Record in 200 Fly by 1.3 Seconds

Sharon van Rouwendaal lowered her own Dutch national record in the 200 fly on Thursday at the French Long Course Nationals in Limoges. Known primarily as a distance freestyler, van Rouwendaal nonetheless first broke the record set in 1988 by Conny van Bentum (2:12.33) by more than 2 seconds at the 2014 Swim Cup Eindhoven.

Van Rouwendaal took another 1.3 seconds off the Dutch record in the finals of the 200 fly at Limoges, primarily by tightening up the middle 100, as can be seen in the splits below:
