Well spoken guy! I look forward to seeing him represent our country internationally! We already take credit for Missy Franklin so it’s nice to see someone with dual-citizenship taking our side and maybe helping us out a bit internationally.

That’s quite an improvement for Condorelli from last summer’s US Nationals, he busted his butt but his 49.46 in prelims but it barely made it into B final where he faded finished last in 50.5. 8 months later at the Canadian Trials he went the exact same prelim time and then held his taper well and dropped down to 48.8. (which would have actually finished 2nd behind Adrian in that slow Irvine A final last summer). As he said in the interview, the NC2A 3-day format must help mentally and make this meet seem like a piece of cake, as evidenced by his confidence going into finals.

Swimming in Canada is all about old school distance swimming. There may be exceptions, but I don’t know what they are.

100% agree. Works for some, not so much for most. That said distance swimming in Victoria is insane.

This “American’s” instant success at Canadian Trials shines a big spotlight on the state of competitive swimming and coaching in Canada. Reality check for Swim Canada.

Perhaps, but only on the men’s side. IMO, Canada’s women’s team looks strong!

On the men’s side for sure, especially in the sprint freestyle. Men’s 100 free hasn’t really progressed in this country – with the notable exception of Brent Hayden – in 20 years.

“It is all about details.” Santo Condoreli: Swimming hard, smiling wide. Big fan after NCAAs.

I hear Santo does every yard he swims perfectly. He swims like 750 perfect yards a day then just goes home. No volume or speed at all – just super super slow technical work with his dad….
