Jeremy Bagshaw had a very solid week at the 2015 Canadian Nationals which earned him his first national team birth in a few years, as well as a national championship victory in the 200m freestyle.
On the first day of the meet Bagshaw ripped up the field in the 200 freestyle with a 1:47.48. That time got him under the ‘top 16’ standard, putting him on the roster for the World Championships this summer.
Bagshaw was also very solid in the 400m freestyle. Ryan Cochrane has long dominated that race in Canada, however, Bagshaw kept things a lot closer with Cochrane than anyone has in recent years, throwing down a 3:49.76 in finals to finish second behind Cochrane.
With that swim Bagshaw became only the fourth Canadian ever under 3:50 in the 400 free.
Bagshaw will likely swim both events at the World Championships in Kazan, Russia this summer. He’s hoping to get into the semi-finals of the 200 freestyle and then possibly advance to his first major international final.
