In a highly competitive final round of the FINA Men’s Water Polo World League 2015, all favourite group leaders secured their spot at the FINA Water Polo World League Super Final to take place in Bergamo (ITA) from June 23-28.
After ten rounds, as the European preliminaries came to an end, Croatia, Serbia, Hungary and Italy (automatically qualified as host city of the Super Final) will face the Intercontinental tournament’s winners, Australia (first), Brazil (second), USA (third) and China (fourth) to battle for the World title in Bergamo.
In an intense match-up, Group A winners, Hungary (18 points), defeated Greece 12-11. Greece still finished second of the group with 12 points, Romania third and Slovakia last.
In Group B, Spain crushed Germany in a comfortable score of 14-8 at home while defending World League champions Serbia defeated Russia by one point (11-10) in Krusevac.
In Group C, reigning Olympic champions Croatia eclipsed Italy with 14-11 in Split. Meanwhile in Istanbul, Montenegro (10 points) and Turkey (3 points) finished third and fourth of the group.
The winner of the World League Super Final will qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
