Justin Hove Set To Become Ohio State Buckeye for 2015-16

Justin Hove, a senior from Mason, Ohio, just outside of Cincinnati, has committed to swim for the Ohio State University Buckeyes for the 2015-16 season.  “I wanted to stay close to home and still be part of a university where I can achieve academic and athletic success”, Hove says of his decision.

As a senior Comet, Hove contributed to his Mason High School’s overall fifth place (combined) finish at this year’s OHSAA High School meet, scoring a seventh place in the 200 freestyle and ninth place in the 500 freestyle individual events.  Hove has strong overall middle-distance and distance freestyle performances on the club-level as well, competing for the Mason Manta Rays.

A sampling of Hove’s best SCY times to date:

200 free – 1:39.46
500 free – 4:26.86
1000 free – 9:27.85

Hove joins a solid freestyle contingency already in place at OSU, led by the likes of Brayden Seal, Josh Fleagle and Alex Rosen.  The Buckeyes scored a second place finish at this past season’s Big Ten Championships and sixteenth at this year’s NCAA Men’s Championships.

Is Justin related to Paul Hove, who was a Cincinnati high schooler before going to SMU and making the inaugural 1973 World Championships in Belgrade in 200 back?
