Siberian Winter Swimmers Celebrate 70th Anniversary of the Great Victory with a Mass Swim

This is an “unedited” press release from our friends at Winter Swimming.

In the sacred holiday for all Russians at the day of the 70th anniversary of the Victory, on the Tura River (Russia, Tyumen) there traditional winter swim will be held. More than 100 representatives from Tyumen clubs and hardening centers of 10 to 87 age years old will take part in this great event.

The event will be opened with a mass swim. The beginners will cover the distance of 25 meters and the distance for experience is 300 meters. Among the participants there are Russian champions: Yuri Shmelev, Anatoly Borovinsky, Marina Gavrikova, and the medalists and world champions: Yuri Neupokoev, Andrew Agarkov, Andrei Sychev. This weekends Tyumen winter swimmers will open next bathing season.

Also in the city of Tyumen (Russia) an active preparations for the X Winter Swimming World Championships has begun. The event will be held from 8 to 12 of March 2016 and more than 1,000 winter swimmers around the world are expected to arrive.
