JOB DESCRIPTION

USMS seeks Business Development Manager.

USMS LogoThe Business Development Manager works in the marketing business unit of U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS). The position works closely with the Marketing Director, Executive Director, and USMS staff to develop revenue through sponsorship, licensing, promotion and advertising sales. The position calls for an organized, innovative and team-oriented individual with good business sense, knowledge of the nonprofit space and a sincere desire to work in business development. This position is full time, located in Sarasota, Fla, and reports to the Marketing Director.

***The position is based in USMS headquarters in Sarasota, FL.

ROLES AND DUTIES

Manage USMS sponsorships, advertising, licensing and other revenue generating partnerships within the USMS strategic plan;

Through use of phone and other outreach vehicles, create and manage a pipeline of sponsorship and advertising prospects to meet budget goals;

Be responsible for the sponsorship, advertising, and licensing contract process;

Develop sponsorship and advertising proposals and recaps;

Service and assist USMS sponsors in realizing their sponsorship benefits and create new activation initiatives to further sponsor involvement;

Communicate and provide advance information to sponsors with regard to benefits and activation at USMS championships and coach certifications;

Responsible for sponsor integration with SWIMMER magazine, e-newsletters and usms.org;

Responsible for managing the sponsorship and advertising billing process;

Ensure licensees adhere to the USMS style guide;

Responsible for distribution of marketing support materials as requested by clubs and events;

Work with event hosts on USMS involvement and sponsor interaction.

SUMMARY OF DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A sincere desire to work in sponsorship and advertising sales;

Excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills;

Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task;

Ability to make clear recommendations and decisions when necessary;

Understanding and appreciation for the culture of Masters swimming;

Must attend the USMS Spring Nationals, USMS Summer Nationals and other USMS events where sponsor activation is required;

Use and understand Google Apps and Dropbox;

Knowledgeable of social media and its applications

EDUCATION

Desired education: Successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree

Substitution: For candidates who do not have the desired degree, 1 year of higher education may be substituted with 2 years of additional related work experience with at least 2 years of college required.
