Training in the Mediterranean with SwimMAC Team Elite at Mare Nostrum

Head Coach and CEO of SwimMAC, David Marsh, is known for his creative training techniques. It’s no surprise he couldn’t pass up a chance to get his pro swimming crew (aka TeamElite) in the Mediterranean Sea while in Canet-en-Roussillon, France.

SwimSwam got the Marsh message via email. According to the message, it was Olympic star Ryan Lochte in the lead of the TeamElite pack crossing the cove.

@GinaRhinestone there are some things which are funny and some which are just not. Please exercise some judgment with what you say given there very well might be some members of this site who have either lived experience of being a refugee or are close to some who have.

Perhaps – and I am giving you huge benefit of the doubt here – you yourself can identify with the struggles of deportation and forced relocation etc. and consider the best way for you to deal with it yourself is to laugh it off. However I doubt many others share the same opinion, and comments such as yours are not only disrespectful but can trigger traumatic experiences.

So sure, you might… Read more »

Don’t lose your time and your energy with her.
Personally, I tried several times to reason with her but I gave up. 😆 She is . . . crazy!
She is here on swimswam only to provoke. She never talks about swimming. She provokes only to make people react.
Don’t care about her.
I think we should definitely stop replying her comments and she will get tired.

U are right , she is most of the time totally insane in her comments . There is a lack of joy for life in Gina , that’s very clear to my consciousness . Therefore , it’s easely projected outwards , aka at the swimswam commentary section of articles . About refugees , 2 weeks ago , i saw the guys living in the duna sands in Calais ( North of France ) with no future in hand at all yet , waiting to get on a truck to UK somewhere in the future . Those guys are not having it easy ; i can truly feel for their harsh situations . Don’t comment on refugees Gina if u are… Read more »

Calais is not ‘north of France ‘ . It is France .

‘Refugees ‘ must register in the first available point & have their applications approved .There are very specific criteria to what constitutes a ‘refugee’ . France was only too happy to bomb Libya & thus undo the arrangement specifically dealing with cross Med human trafficking . Now it is big business . So deal with it & provide them with shelter .

In the meantime swimming in the Meditteranean is only for the select few . It has taken on a completely different meaning that you cannot squash by harping on about ‘feelings’ .

Very lucky they were not picked up by a freighter & sent to a refugee camp.
