Miriam Sheehan‘s has broken the 10 & under National Age Group Record in the 50 meter fly for the second time this year by swimming a 30.13 on Friday at the Arizona Long Course Open in Chandler, Arizona.
That cleared a 30.43 that she swam on May 1st of this year as the new standard for 10 & under swimmers, both of which improved upon Felicia Lee’s 2007 record of 30.56.
Sheehan doesn’t age up until the middle of September, and so has a full summer left to continue challenging records, and perhaps even challenge to become the youngest swimmer ever under 30 seconds in this event.
The 10-year old phenom swims for the Phoenix Swim Club, primarily training under the watchful eye of Travis Anderson.
Sheehan also owns the National Age Group Records in the 50 fly in short course (26.64) and the 50 backstroke in long course (32.44).
Many of their age group team records are still held by the great Kalyn Keller. I know they are not NAGs anymore but breaking those is no small feat either!
