Hungarians Improve Butterfly World Rankings On Day Four of Nationals

Bence Biczó set up an exciting men’s 200 butterfly final on day four of the 2015 Hungarian National Championships. He was just off his season best time this year with a 1:56 to lead the men’s 200 butterfly, finishing ahead of several talented flyers.

As the events unfolded today, however, Biczo ended up on the wrong side of the touch at the end of the race. Laszlo Cseh lead the field in the men’s 200 butterfly though the 100 mark but wasn’t able to hold on for another Gold medal this week. Instead, Tamas Kenderesi ran down both Cseh and Biczo for the Gold medal, winning with a final time of 1:54.79, Cseh picked up another silver medal with a 1:54.90, and Biczo took the bronze medal with a 1:55.80.

Another big event later on was the men’s 800m freestyle. Two swimmers managed to break under 8 minutes in the event. Akaram Ahmed of Egypt and Peter Bernek raced to first and second. Ahmed won Gold with his time of 7:52.46 and Bernek finished second with his time of 7:56.21.

On the women’s side, Zsu Jakabos posted the 14th fastest time in the world this year in the semifinals of the women;s 200 butterfly and is expected to cut more time during finals.

Important to show the splits. I believe Tamas, the winner, came home in the fastest last-50m in history for an LCM 200 fly.

50m: 26,55, 100m: 00:56,44 (29,89), 150m: 01:26,18 (29,74), 200m: 01:54,79 (28,61) Kenderesi

28.61!!!
