ATHENS, Ohio – Head swimming and diving coach Rachel Komisarz-Baugh announced today the hiring of Chelsea Ale as a diving coach.
“We are excited and honored to welcome Chelsea Ale to the Ohio swimming and diving team,” said Komisarz-Baugh. “She has an impressive career both as an athlete and a coach and we look forward to her innovative coaching techniques to help our athletes develop both in and out of the pool.”
Ale, a native of Silver Springs, Md., spent the last two years coaching at Western Kentucky University as the programs’ diving coach. She finished the 2014-15 season as the Conference USA Male Diving Coach of the Year. Her divers broke three school records and her men’s team won the Conference USA Championships. Her male diver was also named Conference USA Diver of the Year.
“I am so incredibly excited to be a part of the Ohio swimming and diving family and can’t wait for all the great things that we are going to do this year,” said Ale.
An experienced diver, Ale was a Junior World Trials gold medalist on platform, a Junior and Senior National Championship finalist, an Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA Zone finalist and a three-time Master’s National Champion. Ale also represented the United States in the Junior World Championships.
Ale attended North Carolina State University where she was a finalist at the conference championships from 2007-2009. While at NC State, Ale’s academic accomplishments were numerous, including ACC Honor Roll, All-ACC Academic Team, Scholar-Athlete and Dean’s List.
She earned her masters degree from Florida State University in sports administration in August of 2011.

Looks like Chelsea just resigned due to “personal reasons”. Previous comments seem to be correct.
It is very interesting that two staff members leave within her first year. Those alums must be pretty excited in the “change of direction” that has taken place in the past two seasons. There is a rich history in that program that appears to be fading quickly. Not only a lack of team success at the conference level but also a decline in character starting at the top (head coach). Time will tell more…..
So her assistant swim coach resigns before a year is up, then her diving coach who had been at Ohio for over a decade resigns and takes an in conference job. Sounds like something’s going on there.
