Watch The IPC World Championship Teams “Shake It Off” (Video)

The 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships recently concluded in Glasgow, Scotland. The competition started on July 13th and continued through July 19th. The meet featured the best 580 athletes from roughly 70 different countries.

Russia had the best performance as a team, winning 71 medals. Of their 71 medals, 32 medals were gold, 19 were silver medals, and 20 were bronze medals. Ukraine finished second as a country with 63 medals, and the United States finished third overall with 30 medals (11 Gold, 11 Silver, and 8 Bronze).

Daniel Dias of Brazil lead the individual medal count with 8 medals. Of his eight medals, seven were gold and the final medal was silver. Although he didn’t break them this week, he held seven world records coming into the meet, and at the meet he and his relay team added another world record in the men’s 4×50 freestyle relay 20pts.

On the women’s side, Jessica Long of the United States lead the individual medal count with seven medals. She won four gold medals and three silver medals throughout the swim meet. She broke a championship record in the women’s 100 breaststroke SB7 with her time of 1:32.46.

The IPC Swimmers and meet organizers worked together to create their version of a music video for Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”.
