Tulane Picks Up Game-Changing Commitment from Indiana’s Olivia Johnson

Fishers Area Swimming Tigers swimmer Olivia Johnson has announced her verbal commitment to Tulane University.

I knew what I was looking for in a University academically and athletically. Tulane was a perfect match. Katie [Robinson] and Sarah [Woodbury] are honest, straightforward people that value each athlete and what they have to contribute to the sport of swimming. The team was so welcoming and I’m honored to call them my teammates next year!

Johnson is an incredibly versatile swimmer, with Winter Junior National cuts in the 1000y free, 200y breast, and 400y IM. Below is a closer look at her best times:

While she did not swim at the 2015 U.S. Summer Junior Nationals, she rounded out the long course season with Juniors cuts in the 400m IM, 400m free, and 800m free. Her 1500 best time also would have qualified for this past season’s Juniors.

Johnson is a gigantic pickup for Tulane– her best times are faster than school records in the 400 IM and 1000 free, and she’s very close to program bests in the 200 breast and 1650 free. She would have been 2nd in the 1650 and the 400 IM at last year’s American Athletic Conference Championships, and her 400 IM best time is .03 under last season’s NCAA ‘B’ cut. She’s going to bring a ton of young, raw speed to the Green Wave, and may well break multiple individual school records in her debut season for Tulane.
