Anna Anderson, a senior at Albert Lea High School in Albert Lea, Minnesota, has committed verbally to swim at the University of North Dakota next fall. Andersen is the reigning Minnesota Girls’ High School Class A (small schools) champion in the 50 free (23.65), and swam anchor (23.21) on Albert Lea’s state record-breaking medley relay (comprised of Bailey Sandon, Lindsey Horejsi, Ahnika Jensen, and Andersen). Andersen was also runner-up in the 100 free (51.45) and in the 200 free relay, which she led off in 24.16.

Andersen swims for South Metro Storm in Lakeview, Minnesota. Her best SCY times over the last two seasons are:

  • 50 free – 23.65
  • 100 free – 51.45
  • 50 fly – 26.54
  • 100 fly – 1:00.67
  • 50 back – 28.88
  • 100 back – 1:00.08

Andersen’s arrival in Grand Forks will coincide with the graduation of UND’s top sprinters, Courtney Funk and Cassie Walth. That will give her the opportunity to step up and make a big impact her freshman year. Andersen’s best 50 and 100 freestyles would have both have made the “A” finals at WAC Championships this past February, and she would have been a strong presence in UND’s relays.

Andersen will join fellow commit Caily Friel from Illinois in the North Dakota class of 2020.
