What Is A Performance Based Identity and How Does It Affect Athletes?

Many elite athletes suffer from Performance Based Identities. While everyone experiences this to some degree, when it becomes a state-of-mind and makes up 100% of your self-worth, it can be counterproductive.

Dr. Ben Houltberg breaks down Performance Based Identity in this 26 minute presentation (VIDEO ABOVE). It’s worth a look. If you’re at work or studying, put it on and listen to it in the background. It may resonate with you on some level and offer insight into what drives your performance in work, school, and swimming.

Via “Hope Sports” Ben is conducting a survey.  See the description here: If you are currently competing in sport at a professional or elite level, consider being a part of the following study. You would just need to complete a confidential survey online that will take about 15-20 minutes. You will be compensated $10 or have the opportunity to donate the money to a charity. The study is being conducted by Dr. Benjamin Houltberg who speaks at the home builds for Hope Sports. Feel free to pass the link on to any other currently competing elite athlete. Thank you so much for considering this and thank you if you have already participated.
