Tim Hanson, of AquaZot Swim Club and Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach, California, has given his verbal commitment to the University of Michigan for 2016-17. Hanson is a very versatile athlete who could fill any number of slots for the Wolverines. He falls into the AZOT 400 IM/200 fly mold, but also does quite well in distance freestyle events. Swimming for Corona del Mar at the 2015 CIF-SS Division I Championships, Hanson came in ninth in the 200 IM and 11th in the 500 free. At Junior Nationals this summer, Hanson finished 23rd in the 1500m free; at 2014 Open Water Nationals he placed tenth among the 18-and-under finishers. And in the summer of 2013, Hanson swam the butterfly leg on AquaZot’s 400m medley relay that broke the national age group record.

Hanson is already capable of making the “C” final at B1G Championships in the 400 IM and 200 fly; he would have just snuck in at 24th in the 1650 as well. He is the latest to add his name to an outstanding class of 2020 that also includes the following verbal commits:
